Skewbacks

The skewback is the joint line along which the arch meets the facework immediately above the jambs of the opening. The skewback bricks are cut to the skewback angle to create a clean joint the same width as the arch joints.

To ensure a clean straight junction between arch and face-work, you can order the skewback bricks with your arches. This will save on site cutting costs and produces a neat accurate finish to your project.  Your bricklayer can snap the pre-cut bricks to length to suit his bond.
